"Artisan-crafted traditional masterpieces, conveying the essence of Tsubame-Sanjo blacksmithing to the present"

Tsurugi Kenshin is a "one-of-a-kind knife brand" where each piece is carefully crafted by artisans, serving as a bearer of the nearly 500-year-old tradition of Tsubame-Sanjo and its blacksmiths. It is said that the manufacture and sale of knives began in Niigata around 1661. The knives, inheriting the tradition of Tsubame-Sanjo blacksmithing since the early Edo period, are renowned nationwide. In April 2009, Echigo-Sanjo Uchihomono was designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Tsurugi Kenshin knives, highly trusted by professional chefs and culinary enthusiasts, enhance the joy of cooking with Japanese aesthetics and technical prowess, inspiring the creativity of cooks. The artisans of Tsurugi Kenshin, bearers of the culture and history of Tsubame-Sanjo, continue to deliver exceptional functional beauty by blending "traditional techniques" with "cutting-edge technology."

Tsurugi Kenshin is not just a knife. Many manual processes are required to make a single knife. All these processes are difficult to mechanize, and the work process is truly the domain of the craftsman, utilizing traditional Sanjo blacksmithing techniques from forging to finishing. We take pride in respecting the skills and passion of our craftsmen, contributing to the development of the local economy and culture. We aim to be a brand that walks along with the planet, focusing on sustainable manufacturing processes and the selection of environmentally friendly materials.
